Summer in the City

The most important US holiday is the 4th of July and the celebrations in NYC are varied.
Coney Island’s Famous Nathan’s will have their annual Hot Dog Eating Contest where you can watch contestants compete to consume the most hot dogs, then enjoy the beach, the boardwalk and the amusement park.
Later you can view the 35th annual Macy’s fireworks display on the Hudson River. The Fireworks display will begin at 9:00pm. Traffic on the West Side Highway will be redirected for pedestrian viewing from 22nd street to 59th Street

Several boat tours and river cruises are offering 4th of July promotions. They are ideal for viewing and enjoying the fireworks on the river (advance reservations are recommended).
