Which Edge NYC ticket should you buy?
General Admission: best for most visitors
General Admission gives you a reserved date and time. It includes the indoor route and the outdoor sky deck. Choose it when you know where you will be before and after Edge.
The main gain is a lower price. The main cost is a firm time. Leave room for the subway, security, and the walk through Hudson Yards.
Drawback: Standard General Admission is not the right fit when your day may move. Current official rules say standard tickets are nonrefundable, and some low-price tickets cannot be changed.
Advance Saver: best when the date is firm
Edge may sell lower Advance Saver prices when you book at least 14 days ahead. This has the same core deck access, but the rules are tight. It suits a traveler with a fixed flight, hotel, and show plan.
Check the final price and time before paying. The lowest slot may be early, late, or on a less busy day.
Drawback: A low rate can lose its value if poor visibility arrives or your schedule changes.
Flex Admission: best for a loose day
Flex Admission gives you flexible entry at any time on the selected date. That is useful when you want to watch the weather, take a long lunch, or pair Edge with shops and food at Hudson Yards.
You pay for time freedom, not a different view. Every regular ticket already includes the main indoor and outdoor experience.
Drawback: Flex can cost far more than a timed ticket. It does not promise an empty deck or a clear sky.
Priority Access: best when waiting is the main concern
Priority Access adds a flexible arrival, faster check-in, and priority elevator access. It may help on a short trip, at a busy hour, or when a long line would spoil another reservation.
It does not create a private visit. Sunset and holiday crowds can still fill the deck.
Drawback: The price jump is hard to defend on a quiet weekday morning.
Sunset VIP: best for a planned occasion
This ticket is built around golden-hour entry and includes priority treatment plus a glass of champagne for guests who can drink it. It can suit a birthday or a one-night city stop.
Sunset is the most requested time. Book it early if the date matters more than the forecast.
Drawback: Sunset can still be cloudy, and the added drink has little value for some guests.

When should you visit Edge?
A weekday morning is the cleanest choice for lower crowd pressure. The light is crisp on many clear days, and the deck often feels calmer than it does near sunset. A late visit gives you city lights and can fit after dinner.
Sunset visits give you two views in one trip: daylight first, then lights. They also bring the highest demand. Book golden hour early and arrive with time for security and the indoor route. The official Edge FAQ says these slots tend to sell out first.
Do not build a tight plan around an exact time on the deck. Entry, elevators, photos, and crowds can stretch a visit. Allow about 90 minutes, then add a buffer if you have a show or train.
Weather matters more than ticket rank
Fog can hide the skyline. Strong wind or lightning can close the outdoor deck while the indoor areas remain open. Rain does not always mean a lost visit, but low clouds can matter more than light rain.
Check the forecast two or three days ahead. If the view is the main reason for your visit, choose Flex Admission or add any available protection at checkout. Read the terms before paying; not every ticket and pass holder gets the same weather remedy.
Edge says its Sky Assurance policy may offer choices when bad weather harms visibility. The policy applies under set terms and may not cover pass holders. Confirm the current rule on the day you buy.
What entry is like at Hudson Yards
The entrance begins on Level 4 of The Shops at Hudson Yards. Guests pass through security, then enter Edge’s immersive experience. Interactive indoor installations introduce the New York City setting. These immersive installations use light and reflective surfaces before the high-speed elevator ride leads to Level 100.
Every main ticket includes the indoor observation deck, outdoor sky deck, glass floor, angled glass walls, skyline seats, and eastern point. Children age 5 and under currently enter free and do not need a ticket. Visitors age 6 and older need admission.
Edge states that the route is accessible by elevator. Service animals are allowed. Assistive listening devices and handheld captions are offered at Guest Services on a first-come basis. Check the official Edge FAQ if a specific aid is essential to the visit.
Can an attraction pass cost less?
Edge appears on several New York attraction passes. A pass can work when you also plan two or more costly sights. It can cost more when Edge is your only paid attraction.
Pass entry still needs a reserved time in many cases. Make that booking as soon as your pass allows. A pass is not a promise of walk-up entry at sunset.

Other Edge NYC ticket types and add-ons
Edge changes its ticket mix during the year. You may see a champagne bundle, an Edge and Vessel ticket, a local-resident rate, an annual pass, or a special early hour.
A bundle saves money only when you want each part. A drink does not improve the view. A Vessel ticket does not help a guest who has no time to climb it.
New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residents may see a local deal. The current Edge FAQ says an eligible billing ZIP code or local ID may be needed.
What about City Climb?
City Climb is separate from normal Edge New York tickets. It is a harnessed climb on the outside of the building. It has its own check-in, safety, age, height, and weight rules.
Do not buy it as a simple ticket upgrade. Read the full health and clothing rules. Check the current limits on the official City Climb page before you pay.
Standard Edge admission is better for most guests. It gives open-air views without the climb, harness, or extra time.
Edge New York tickets for families
Children age 5 and under do not need a normal ticket at the time of our check. Older children need a ticket. A stroller can move through the lift route, but the glass floor and open deck may feel hard for some children.
Pick a time after a meal and before a late night. Sunset looks good, but a long wait can be hard with a young child. A weekday morning is often the easier family plan.
Keep hands free for the phone ticket and bags. Set one meeting point in case the group spreads out on the deck.

Sunset VIP and champagne products are made for this use. They cost more. A plain General Admission ticket at the right hour can still feel special.

Food near Edge NYC
Hudson Yards has quick food, bars, and full meals. Peak and the Edge bar may have their own entry or booking rules. A normal Edge ticket does not promise a table.
Eat before a sunset visit when a late dinner will be hard. Eat after a morning visit when you want a slow lunch. Leave a gap between the ticket time and any table.

Flexible Edge tickets are worth it when the day is not firm. They can help with weather, a long meal, or a late train.
